UPDATE: The March 2011 Japan Blog Matsuri (Faces of Japan) has now been published and can be found HERE!
This month, Haikugirl’s Japan has the honour and pleasure of hosting the March 2011 edition of the Japan Blog Matsuri!
First, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to the February host Reesan over at loneleeplanet. The February theme was Famous Japanese Events, and you should really check out all of the wonderful entries if you haven’t already. 🙂
Now… drum roll please… I am excited to announce that the March 2011 theme for the Japan Blog Matsuri is…
Faces of Japan
(Culture Weekend, Nagoya, 2008)
What does that mean exactly? Well, that’s up to you! But basically I want to see some pictures of the Japanese people around you. If you’re a photo blogger, just photos are fine. But if you have some stories to share, please feel free to do so!
Maybe you’ll share the kind face of the person who has treated you like family and looked after you in Japan:
(Kazue Yamamoto – my Japanese aunt)
Or maybe the happy smile of a friend you wish you had longer to get to know:
(Azusa Makita – we only met last year)
Perhaps you gained a grandma while in Japan:
(My Obaachan in Toyohashi)
Or maybe you went to a festival and snapped the inspiring face of a stranger:
(Domatsuri, Nagoya, 2008)
Anything is ok: host families, co-workers, students, friends, strangers… (Just remember though, if you’re going to post pictures of people you know – especially students – it might be a good idea to get their permission first!)
So, what are the rules?
Well, anyone can enter – you don’t even have to be in Japan! Your site doesn’t have to be about Japan, but your entry post must feature a photo that you have taken of a Japanese person and, if you want, some explanation or a story. Please read the official rules and guidelines before submitting an entry. You can enter with an old post if you really want to, but I would much rather see something new. Go on – make an effort just for me! 😉
Also, don’t forget to include the theme and mention the Japan Blog Matsuri in your post (and please link the theme to this page).
How do I submit my entry?
Easy! Please do one of the following:
- Leave a comment on this post with a link to your entry.
- Send me a link via my contact form.
- Submit via the Blog Carnival Widget.
If you have any questions about submitting, please contact me, leave a comment below or check out the Japan Blog Matsuri FAQ.
Deadline for submissions:
March 25th
The March Matsuri will go live on March 28th.
Finally, please spread the word! Tweet it, share it on Facebook, email it to your friends! Let’s make the March Matsuri one to remember! I can’t wait to see your entries! \(^_^)/
Nice theme. I’ve got a bunch of ideas.

A great entry – thank you! (And I don’t mind at all about you breaking the rules. In fact, if others want to do the same, that’s fine!)
