I really am lucky to be working near Baker Street! One of the many reasons is that I’m within walking distance of a lovely little Japanese cafe called Cha no Ma.

You could easily walk past Cha no Ma without noticing it. The cafe sits humbly on busy Baker Street, next to a large Pizza Express. It only has a few seats inside, and a few outside, but don’t let the size put you off. Food is available to take-away, and the staff are really friendly.
The menu includes bento, which you can mix and match yourself from various options, Japanese curry, donburi and sushi.
One of the reasons I particularly like Cha no Ma is that they also sell a range of matcha lattes and sweets.
This was a Matcha Aduki Latte – yum! 🙂
I’m planning to pop in on a Tuesday soon to take advantage of Wagashi Day, where you can get homemade Japanese sweets with either a matcha latte or a pot of tea for only £4.
Cha no Ma is a really good place for lunch (although they’re also open for dinner), and it certainly seemed popular when I was there. Check it out if you’re in the area!
Cha no Ma is at 129 Baker Street, London, W1U 6SD. It’s open from 10.30 – 22.00 Monday to Friday, and 11.00 – 18.00 on Saturday. For more information, take a look at their website, like them on Facebook, or follow them on Twitter. They also have some delicious photos on their Flickr page…

Itsu has some pretty good food, but I hope you get to try Cha no Ma sometime. 🙂
