As anyone who knows me either in real life or on Facebook will know, I’m heading off to Japan very soon and I’m pretty damn excited about it. Just 3 sleeps to go! I first visited Japan in 2006, then returned in 2007. In 2008 I moved there for 3 years, returning in April 2011. In 2014 I returned for an epic holiday and work trip and had the time of my life, and now it’s time to do that again. I originally planned to just have a holiday this year, but then my company decided to extend that into a work research trip, which is fantastic!
I’ll be in Japan for 33 days, visiting at least 20 different places and staying in 23 different hotels (including ryokans and also shukubo temple lodgings). Did I mention that I’m a little bit excited? ๐
Here’s a quick Google map of where I’m going – click on the little menu icon in the top left corner and you can see a list of places I’ll be going, and you can zoom in on the map for more detail if you want.
Whilst I’m away I won’t be posting long blog posts, but I will try to update the blog with some quick snapshots where possible. Do also follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for more updates! ่กใฃใฆใใพใ๏ผ (*^_^)v

Oh, cool! I’ll be in Japan in a week as well.
One week for work and one week for vacation. ๐
I’ll mainly stay in Kanto this time and haven’t planned much (after all I’ve been to most places already *g*), but if our schedules match, we could meet up somewhere? ^^
If not, that’s alright, then enjoy your trip. ^___^
Can’t wait to read all about it afterwards. :3

What, no Kyushu?? The Kumamoto girl in me is disappointed for you. ๐ But the Tokyo resident in me says drop a line when you get to town!

Might be busy: we leave in three days, starting from Sapporo. Given the local temperature in Sth Aust on Wednesday is scheduled for 36oC, we’ll wake at minus 5 on arrival: a case of “out of the frying pan into the freezer”. By early December, we’ll be at Kobe’s Luminairie.

Are you using a JR Pass for at least some of the trip?

Yes, I’m using the Japan Rail Pass for most of my journeys. It’s very cost effective!

Yeah, it really works well if you’re a visitor. Residents have to use slightly less useful and more expensive passes, or the Juhachi Kippu.
